Cumin the dog is starting to learn how wonderful life can be
He may look adorably goofy, with huge ears and a terribly skinny frame, but there has been nothing to smile about in Cumin's life until recently. At the tender age of 2 he has already had a rough time in life, but he's at ARK now and his gentle heart remains as strong as ever.

Hamo is the perfect complement to a friendly and quiet home
The beautiful white Hamo is actually quite shy, but if it’s a camera he's posing for then he’ll ham it up. Shy though he is, Hamo loves to be stroked and now that he’s in a smaller area with his best bud, Eso, he has become more and more affectionate.

When Koji's happy, everyone knows it
Koji is a 10-year-old Kishu dog weighing in at around 17 kilograms. He’s extremely smart and, once he trusts you, will make for a wonderful companion. He’s a straightforward kind of guy. His loves in life are simple, too: food and walks.

A quiet gentleman, Kupuna is looking for a peaceful home
The pure-white Kupuna was brought to Japan from Hawaii by a military family. When they were ordered to return to the States before a reposting, the airline refused to take the dog and cited earlier problems it had had with dogs, though none had anything to do with Kupuna.

A pair of kittens will make the perfect pets

Tuck lost his best friend and now he's looking for a new one
Wary, standoffish, aloof, moody — though these are words often used to describe cats, they also describe many Japanese breeds of dog, including the Shiba. They also suit Tuck, but they only describe a part of him. There’s a lot more below the surface, waiting to be discovered by the right person.

Odairi is hoping for a pal to hang with
