The 34-year-old, who appeared in four consecutive Olympic Games in men's backstroke events, had been active on the international stage since 2006.

Olympic swimming champion Ohashi qualifies for Paris in 200 IM
Ohashi won the 200 IM in 2 minutes, 9.17 seconds, well inside the qualifying time of 2:10.70.
Daiya Seto touched the wall in 1 minute, 56.87 seconds, well inside the Olympic qualifying time of 1:57.51, on the second-to-last day of the trials at Tokyo Aquatics Centre.

Rikako Ikee, who will be 24 years old in early July, is set for her third Olympic appearance.
Since autumn, Rikako Ikee had been training in Australia under coach Michael Bohl with the stated goal of wanting to be the best in the world.
