D.T. Cromer and Sherman Obando drove in all of Nippon Ham's runs and Satoru Kanemura went the distance as the Fighters defeated the Osaka Kintetsu Buffaloes 7-3 Monday night at the Tokyo Dome.

Kanemura scattered six hits and a walk while striking out 10 to improve his record to 4-1 with his first complete game of the season.

"With the lead they gave me, I could relax and concentrate on getting the (Kintetsu) hitters out," said Kanemura. "I'm also really happy I could finish the game."

Tatsuya Iide led off the bottom of the first inning with a double off the right field wall and advanced to third base on Makoto Kaneko's fielder's choice.

Michihiro Ogasawara then ran up a full count and Iide ran home on the next pitch, which landed in the dirt next to Ogasawara's right toe and appeared to be a wild pitch.

But home plate umpire Takeshi Hirabayashi disallowed the run and forced Iide back to third base after ruling the ball had hit Ogasawara's shoe.

Nippon Ham manager Yasunori Oshima ran out on the field to argue the decision, but he needn't have wasted his breath because Cromer, the next batter up, ripped a triple to right field that sent both Iide and Oshima home. Cromer then scored the Fighters' third run on Obando's infield grounder.

The Buffaloes finally answered back in the top of the third on Naoyuki Omura's solo home run, but the Fighters kept up their assault on Kintetsu starter Sean Bergman in the bottom of the inning.

Kaneko and Ogasawara hit back-to-back singles before Cromer drove in his third run of the night with a double down the left field foul line.

Obando then capped the scoring for the Fighters with a three-run homer 132-meters into the right field bleachers.

The six-run lead appeared to give Kanemura more of an edge on the mound as he struck out four of the next six batters.

The 187-cm right-hander only allowed three more hits the rest of the way -- a single to Omura in the sixth inning, and a pair of solo homers to Kintetsu first baseman Yuji Yoshioka.

Bergman (4-3) was saddled with the loss after allowing all seven runs in just three innings on the mound.

BlueWave 4, Marines 1

In Kobe, Fernando Seguignol hit an RBI groundout for the go-ahead run and Koichi Oshima added a two-run double to cap a four-run fourth inning as Orix BlueWave overtook Lotte to move out of last place in the Pacific League.

Hisashi Ogura (1-1) picked up his first win this season, allowing one run and six hits in six innings, and Kazuo Yamaguchi pitched a perfect ninth for the save.

Lions 6, Hawks 4 (11)

Alex Cabrera hit a solo home run -- his 24th of the season -- to break a 4-4 tie in a two-run 11th inning, leading Seibu over Daiei at the Fukuoka Dome.

Mirabel breaks finger

Nippon Ham Fighters right-hander Carlos Mirabal was removed from the active roster Monday with a broken finger, while Shinichi Kato of the Kintetsu Buffaloes is expected to be out of action for the rest of the season due to an elbow injury.

Mirabal, tied for the Pacific League lead with nine wins, was deactivated after X-rays showed earlier in the day that his right middle finger was broken. Doctors said he needs to be sidelined for at least three weeks.

Kintetsu officials said veteran right-hander Kato, who joined the Osaka club from the Orix BlueWave as a free agent in the offseason, will have surgery to remove bone chips in his pitching elbow on Saturday.

Mitsui picked for Series

Left-hander Koji Mitsui has been selected as a replacement for fellow Seibu Lions pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka in the upcoming Japanese All-Star Series, baseball officials said Monday.

The announcement came a day after Matsuzaka, the top vote-getter among the Pacific League starting pitchers, said he will rest his injured elbow by skipping the All-Star Games at Tokyo Dome on Friday and in Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture, the following evening.

The baseball commissioner's office said Monday that the 21-year-old right-hander will not be eligible to pitch in a regular season game until July 26 under the rules governing players who pull out of the All-Star Series.

Mitsui, who joined Seibu last season as a second-round draft pick, has a 4-1 record with a 2.81 ERA in 15 games and will make his first all-star appearance.
