With its many local specialties, such as takoyaki (octopus dumplings) and okonomiyaki (savory pancakes), Osaka is a veritable hot spot for foodies.
In a bid to beef up the city's culinary status, the Smorgasburg Osaka festival will see representatives from seven restaurants assemble at event space Osaka Food Lab on Oct. 26 and 27. Dishes will be on offer as participants vie to get the most votes from visitors or be given top marks by judges — the best two will be allowed to run a booth at the event's parent market in Brooklyn.
Concurrently, there will be two guest vendors from New York serving skewered lamb and hand-cut fries. (Yuki Yamauchi)
