Aomori: Hachinohe Sansha Taisai

Gorgeous festival of Sansha (three Shrines; Ogami-jinja Shrine, Chojasan Shinra-jinja Shrine and Shinmei-gu Shrine), designated as one of the National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Properties, and registered as the Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. Many events are scheduled during the festival period.

Schedule & Key events:
● Aug. 1 & 3 from 3 p.m.: Parade of mikoshi of each shrine and 27 colorful huge floats, proceeding in the city
● Aug. 2 2 p.m.-4 p.m. Kiba-dakyu (Japanese polo) in the precincts of Chojasan Shinra-jinja Shrine 6 p.m.-9 p.m. Parade of 27 colorful huge floats, proceeding in the city ● Aug. 4 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Exhibition of floats and local performing arts at Shicho-mae Hiroba

JR Tohoku Shinkansen Line to Hachinohe Sta. From there, take JR Hachinohe Line to Hon-Hachinohe Sta., and then walk 10 min.
