Lily Festival, with a long and distinguished history, originates in warding off epidemics occurred very often in ancient times. Women and children in white ancient costume with lilies in their hands proceed onto the streets.
Schedule & key events:
from 10:30 a.m.: Ritual pray in which priests dedicate lilies to the shrine and young women in traditional costumes dance holding lilies
from 1:15 p.m.: Procession in the neighborhood of the shrine
Location: Isagawa-jinja Shrine and others, Honkomori-cho, Nara, Nara
JR Nara Line to Nara Station or Kintetsu Nara Line to Kintetsu Nara Station, and then walk 7 min.
