With gorgeous golden eyes and a face that can’t stop smiling, Hampen is a delightful presence to have in your home. He’s named after the soft white fish paste that is a specialty of the area he came from: Tokushima Prefecture in Shikoku.

Hampen arrived at ARK after his former owner was no longer able to care for him. Though he can be a bit moody at times, he’ll come running if you stretch out your arms and call his name.

Though he can be moody sometimes, Hampen is eager to make friends and cozy up to humans.

About 7 years old and weighing 14 kilograms, Hampen loves to go on walks and is eager to find a friend — a human one. He isn’t too keen on other dogs and would be best suited for a household where he’ll be the only one. We know someone out there will see how sweet he is, welcome him into their home and enjoy many beautiful days ahead.

If you are interested in adopting, email ARK at [email protected] or call 050-1557-2763 (English or Japanese) Monday to Saturday (bilingual) for more information. Animal Refuge Kansai (with offices in Kansai and Tokyo) is an NPO founded by U.K. native Elizabeth Oliver. It is dedicated to rescuing and rehoming abandoned animals.
