Cordell Tinch of the U.S. won the gold medal in the 110-meter hurdles at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo on Tuesday, finishing in 12.99 seconds. Jamaicans Orlando Bennett and Tyler Mason took the silver and bronze.

Japan’s Rachid Muratake missed out on the podium, finishing in fifth place with a time of 13.18 seconds.

"When I crossed the finish line I felt relieved," Tinch said. "I came into this season with the goal of winning the world title. I wanted to be the best hurdler in the world ... I did what I was supposed to do. Keeping the medal with America is fantastic."
