Members of the Japanese women's football team practiced in Auckland on Sunday, a day after securing their place in the Women's World Cup last eight with a 3-1 win over Norway.

Following the round-of-16 victory in Wellington, Nadeshiko Japan shifted base to New Zealand's biggest city, where it will play Sweden in Friday's quarterfinal at iconic rugby venue Eden Park.

Players involved against Norway, including captain Saki Kumagai and attacker Hinata Miyazawa, who leads the tournament with five goals, jogged as part of a light recovery session, while others played mini games and ran sprints during the roughly hour-long practice.

Sweden advanced with a 5-4 penalty shootout win over the United States on Sunday after their last-16 clash in Melbourne remained scoreless after 120 minutes.

Goal-line technology confirmed Swedish forward Lina Hurtig's decisive penalty crossed the line in the air after being touched by U.S. goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher, eliminating the two-time defending champions.
