Shohei Ohtani hit his 16th home run as the Los Angeles Angels came from behind to win 7-4 Tuesday against compatriot Seiya Suzuki's Chicago Cubs.
Trailing 4-0 in the fourth inning, Ohtani lined a pitch off Hayden Wesneski that Suzuki just missed catching in right. Originally ruled a triple, the play was reviewed and ruled to have struck above Angel Stadium's yellow home run line.
The Angels two-way star batted second as the designated hitter and went 1-for-2 while drawing two walks. He scored the go-ahead run in the Angels' five-run fifth on a Matt Thaiss two-run single. Suzuki went 1-for-4 with a walk and a run for the Cubs.
Elsewhere, Masataka Yoshida went 3-for-5 with a double and a run as the Boston Red Sox also came from behind to see off the Cleveland Guardians 5-4 and end their three-game skid.
Batting second, Yoshida singled in the first and third for the Red Sox's first two hits. He hit safely in three straight at-bats off 2020 Cy Young Award winner Shane Bieber with a double in the sixth, when he scored to cut the deficit to 2-1.
"I knew he was going to be around the strike zone, so I went up ready to swing away," said Yoshida, who went 0-for-3 against Bieber when he faced him in April.
