Japan’s Kazuto Ioka successfully defended his WBO super flyweight championship for the third time on Wednesday, winning a unanimous decision that went the full 12 rounds against second-ranked contender Francisco Rodriguez of Mexico.
In a bout held behind closed doors at Tokyo’s Ota City General Gymnasium, the two fighters pummeled each other in a bloody slugfest that could have gone either way until the final rounds.
