Teenager Yuri Okubo placed second in the men's snowboarding big air competition to make the World Cup podium for the first time at an event in Monchengladbach, Germany, on Saturday.

The 17-year-old Okubo scored 168.50 points to finish behind Norwegian winner Marcus Kleveland, who comfortably registered his third win of the season with 191.75. Finland's Kalle Jarvilehto was third with 164.50.

Miyabi Onitsuka was runner-up for the third time this season with 172.50 in the women's big air. Switzerland's Carla Somaini won her maiden title with 175.00 and New Zealand's Christy Prior was third with 160.75.
