NEW YORK – Kei Nishikori moved up two spots to fifth in the ATP world rankings Monday after reaching the semifinals of the U.S. Open.
At Flushing Meadows, Nishikori defeated second-ranked Andy Murray — just his second win over the Scotsman in nine meetings — to advance to his second career Grand Slam semifinal before falling to eventual champion Stan Wawrinka, who stood at No. 3. Novak Djokovic remained in first.
