Kenta Ishida got an early hook but a strong all-around effort on a hot day at Yokohama Stadium saw the Yokohama BayStars rally from a run down to beat the Central League-leading Hiroshima Carp on Saturday.

Ishida (6-3) allowed a run in 5-2/3 innings, but was pulled with a one-run lead and a man on second in 30 C temperatures. Right-hander Kota Suda walked the first batter he faced before but got out of the inning on an easy fly, and the BayStars padded their lead in the bottom of the inning.

"He (Ishida) did great, but at that point he had 100 pitches and so I thought it was a good time to bring in the relievers in that situation," Ramirez said. "But he did a tremendous job today."
