AC Milan's Keisuke Honda was held out of Japan training on Monday for the Kirin Cup with discomfort in his left knee and is now day-to-day for the four-team tournament.

The 25-man squad assembled in full for the first time on Monday for the Kirin Cup, which takes place in Aichi Prefecture and in Osaka.

Japan faces Bulgaria first, on Friday, and then the winner of the Bosnia-Herzegovina-Denmark match on June 7.

Honda is feeling pain in the knee, the Japan Football Association said, and it remains to be seen if he will be fit for the Bulgaria match.
