Former world No. 1 Ai Miyazato shot a 5-under-par 67 to grab a share of the first-round lead at the Kia Classic on Thursday.

Miyazato had an eagle on the 10th and also made three birdies in a flawless round at the Aviara Golf Club, good enough for a tie at the top with South Korea's Inbee Park, American Brittany Lang and England's Jodi Ewart Shadoff.

Also for Japan, Harukyo Nomura had a 70, Sakura Yokomine shot a 71 and Mika Miyazato had a 73.
