VIGO, SPAIN – Midfielder Takashi Inui scored his third goal of the season but it was not enough to prevent Eibar from falling to a 3-2 defeat away to Celta Vigo in the Spanish first division on Saturday.
Celta was humiliated 6-1 at Barcelona last week but a double from John Guidetti either side of a 39th-minute strike from Jonny put Eduardo Berizzo’s side in control.
Eibar fought back as Berjon Perez Saul converted from the penalty spot and Inui scored with a powerful strike in the 87th minute, but Celta held on for the three points.
In Switzerland, Japan Under-23 striker Yuya Kubo was on target in Young Boys’ 2-1 win over Thun.
Kubo won a penalty that was put away by Guillaume Hoarau in the 19th minute before Hoarau set up Kubo to drive home the second from 12 meters in the 63rd minute. Roman Buess replied for Thun with two minutes left.
