WBA flyweight champion Kazuto Ioka said Thursday he's been thinking of fighting a title-unification bout.

Ioka, who won his second title defense on New Year's Eve, resumed his gym work on Feb. 1 and is planning to make his next defense as early as May. Ioka will turn 27 on March 24.

"If I can defend my title over and over and get a chance, I want to fight a unification bout," Ioka said at a public training session in Osaka.

The flyweight division is packed with strong champions, and WBC champ Roman Gonzalez of Nicaragua was one name mentioned by Ioka.

"Beating him would be a testimony to my power," said Ioka, who last year achieved his goal of winning a world championship in his third weight class.

"I'm not yet satisfied with my strength, but if I can box the way I am capable, I will be OK."
