Yutaka Take became the first jockey to win 300 graded races, when he captured the G3 Sirius Stakes aboard Awardee on Saturday.
The 46-year-old Take has rewritten one record after another since his debut in 1987, with Saturday’s win at Hanshin Racecourse the 3,758th of his career. In 2010, he suffered a broken collarbone and other fractures in a fall, but returned to competition just four months later.
Take became the Japan Racing Association’s first 3,500-race winner in January 2013. In November that year, he became the first winner of 100 career G1 races.
