Five-time all-around world champion Kohei Uchimura extended his own mark by winning his eighth consecutive national championship on Sunday.

He surpassed Masao Takemoto and Takashi Ono to stand alone in first with the most national titles.

Uchimura, 26, blew away the competition with a score over 90 points in Sunday's final. He had a two-day total of 182.700 to top the podium at Yoyogi National Stadium.

The Japanese ace will be shooting for his sixth consecutive all-around crown at the world gymnastics championships in Glasgow, Scotland, this coming autumn.
