New Japan manager Vahid Halilhodzic will name his first squad Thursday for the upcoming home friendlies against Tunisia and Uzbekistan, the Japan Football Association announced Monday.

According to JFA technical director Masahiro Shimoda, Halilhodzic has been holding lengthy daily meetings with his staff on a number of topics since arriving in Japan on Friday.

It had been thought the technical committee might pick the squad for Halilhodzic given his brief time in Japan.

"He's passionate about his work," Shimoda said of the Bosnian. "He's very meticulous in every way. He said winning does not come easy."

Halilhodzic's Japan will play Tunisia on March 27 in Oita before facing Uzbekistan four days later at Ajinomoto Stadium.
