The Japan Football Association is leaning toward picking the new national team manager from a list of unsigned managers, Kyodo News learned through multiple sources as of Monday.

The JFA's technical committee was briefed Sunday night by its director Masahiro Shimoda, who returned from his overseas recruiting tour the previous day.

Without offering details of the meeting, JFA president Kuniya Daini said Monday the search for a successor to fired coach Javier Aguirre has progressed.
