Noriaki Kasai tasted defeat after he failed to advance to the second round of jumps in the men’s normal hill event at the world ski championships in Falun, Sweden, on Saturday.

The 42-year-old Kasai, who won the silver medal in the men’s large hill at the 2014 Sochi Olympics, finished in 35th place after a first-round effort of just 86.5 meters on the K-90 hill.
