SAPPORO – Sochi Olympic silver medalist Akito Watabe produced his third podium finish of the season after finishing runner-up at a Nordic combined World Cup on Saturday.
The 26-year-old Watabe, taking part in the 12th individual Gundersen of the season, was in 11th place following an effort of 124.5 meters in the jumping portion but the native of Hakuba, Nagano Prefecture gained ground after starting the 10-km cross country leg with a delay of 1 minute, 21 seconds.
