Jose Lopez, who was recently released by the Yomiuri Giants, has agreed to join the Yokohama BayStars, the Central League club said Friday.

The 31-year-old infielder will join the BayStars on a two-year deal carrying an annual salary of ¥150 million.

In his second year in Japan this year, Lopez batted .243 in 134 games and had a team-high 22 home runs for the Giants. Yokohama is hoping Lopez will fill the void left by recently departed slugger Tony Blanco.

"I promise to give it everything I have got to help the team win games," Lopez said in a statement.
