The Baseball Federation of Japan announced Friday that the 12 nations in next year's inaugural Premier 12 event have been decided.

The tournament, slated for November 2015, will pit the top-12 nations in the International Baseball Federation's world rankings.

According to the World Baseball Softball Confederation, Japan heads the field at No. 1 followed by the United States, Cuba, Taiwan, the Netherlands, the Dominican Republic, Canada, South Korea, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Italy and Mexico.

In July, Taiwan was announced as the host nation, but is possible that Japan will take part as co-host.
