Kakuryu swatted Takayasu like a flea to remain the man in charge with a undefeated record on the seventh day, while fellow yokozuna Hakuho rebounded from a shock defeat the previous day at the Kyushu Grand Sumo Tournament on Saturday.
Kakuryu unleashed a fierce salvo of strikes against Takayasu that sent his opponent fleeing backwards over the edge without a fight to improve to 7-0.
Takayasu, who has beaten two of the yokozuna in the first week of the 15-day competition, was off his game on this day as he slipped to a 4-3 mark.
