Japan midfielder Hiroshi Kiyotake has been acquired by German first-division side Hannover, the Bundesliga club announced Friday.

Kiyotake, who represented Japan at this summer's World Cup in Brazil, had been playing for relegated Nuremberg since leaving Cerezo Osaka in the summer of 2012. His contract with Hannover will run through June 2018.

Japan defender Hiroki Sakai currently plays with Hannover, whucg finished 10th in the league last season.

"We are very happy that he chose to come here when he had multiple offers to choose from," Hanover's sporting director Dirk Dufner told the Bundesliga's website.

"He's still 24, so he has room to grow."
