COLOGNE, GERMANY – Eight Japanese players playing in Germany, including striker Yuya Osako, are in Japan’s provisional 30-man squad for the World Cup finals in Brazil, according to a report in Thursday’s online edition of Germany newspaper Abenzeitung.
Along with Osako, who plays in the second tier with 1860 Munich, the report also said regular national team captain Makoto Hasebe, attacking midfielder Hiroshi Kiyotake (both Nuremberg) striker Shinji Okazaki (Mainz), midfielder Hajime Hosogai (Hertha Berlin), defenders Gotoku Sakai (Stuttgart), Hiroki Sakai (Hannover) and Atsuto Uchida (Schalke) are in the squad.
