Chelsea announced Monday it has signed Japan striker Yuki Ogimi from Turbine Potsdam.

Ogimi, 25, is scheduled to join the English Super League women's club following Japan's appearance in the East Asian Cup at the end of this month.

"This club has high targets. I am the same way. I'm convinced this was the right choice for me," said Ogimi, who was the top scorer for the Bundesliga for the 2013 season.

Ogimi helped contribute in Japan's World Cup championship in 2011 and won a silver medal for her country at the 2012 London Olympics. She has won the Bundesliga three times with Potsdam and the Champions League once.
