Sanfrecce Hiroshima goalkeeper Takuya Masuda has been discharged from hospital after showing no worsening signs from a concussion suffered in Monday's game at Omiya Ardija, his J. League first-division club said Tuesday.

Making his J1 debut, Masuda collided head-to-head with Omiya forward Takamitsu Tomiyama late in the second half of Ardija's 2-1 victory, a frightening accident that hospitalized both players.

Masuda, who was filling in for the first-choice Shusaku Nishikawa, lay motionless for minutes following the crash. He wore a neck brace before an ambulance arrived on the pitch at NACK5 Stadium to whisk him to hospital.

The 23-year-old stayed overnight for further tests after being initially diagnosed with a concussion, and reportedly suffered from temporary memory loss. He will travel back to Hiroshima on Tuesday.

Tomiyama was also concussed and suffered bruises to his face.
