Japan's Ren Hayakawa, who helped win the women's archery team bronze over the weekend, advanced to the third round of the women's individual tournament at the London Olympics on Tuesday.

South Korean-born Hayakawa beat Christine Bjerendal of Sweden 6-4 in the first round and Russian Inna Stepanova 7-3 in the second round to make Thursday's third round at Lord's Cricket Ground.

"It was good that I didn't give up until the end," said Hayakawa, reflecting on her two matches of the day that went through five sets.

Ahead of the third-round match, she said, "I want to bring out my best and make efforts so that I won't leave any regrets."
