Borussia Dortmund midfielder Shinji Kagawa will miss the remaining matches of the season because of his injured right foot.
A team spokesperson said Saturday, "He won't be playing in the remaining games this season, so he won't be training with the club either. He is an important player for our team, so we don't want to push him."
Dortmund's sports director Michael Zorc said last week that the team frowns upon Kagawa traveling to the Copa America in July with the Japanese national team, saying that he needs time to prepare for the new season.
Kagawa broke his fifth metatarsal in his right foot at the Asian Cup in Qatar in January.
