Former champion Koki Kameda will aim to become the first Japanese boxer to claim titles in three weight categories when he takes on Alexander Munoz of Venezuela on Dec. 26 for the vacant WBA bantamweight crown at Saitama Super Arena.
Kameda Promotion said Friday that the 24-year-old Kameda, a former WBA light flyweight and WBC flyweight champion currently second at the WBA bantamweight, will meet the 31-year-old Munoz — the No. 5 contender — in the family's triple billing.
Munoz is a former WBA super flyweight champion known for his hard punches. Some of his Japanese victims have included Nobuo Nashiro and Katsushige Kawashima.
Daiki Kameda, Koki's younger brother, will try for a second defense of the WBA flyweight crown against 13th-ranked Romanian Silvio Olteanu.
Tomoki, the youngest of the Kameda trio, will fight a yet-to-be-decided opponent in a non-title match.
