Urawa Reds' World Cup midfielder Yuki Abe has an offer on the table from English Championship side Leicester City.

According to Urawa, Leicester has contacted Abe's agent about signing the 28-year-old holding midfielder, who was instrumental in Japan's march to the second round at the World Cup this summer.

He played just the first half in Reds' 4-1 win at Shonan Bellmare in the J. League first division on Saturday, and has been told by manager Volker Finke to take the next several days off.

Leicester is currently at the foot of the Championship table with one point from the first three games of the campaign.

Abe, who appeared in all four games for Takeshi Okada's side in South Africa, has 49 caps and three goals for Japan.

Abe joined Reds in 2007 after seven seasons with JEF United Chiba, and won the Asian Champions League that year.
