Shimizu S-Pulse said Saturday that Sho Ito, a 21-year-old former striker with French club Grenoble, will join the J. League side.
Ito's 3 1/2-year contract with Grenoble expired last month after he made only five league match appearances with no goals in France during that period.
Shimizu will hold a news conference Sunday on the signing of the speedy forward. Ito is scheduled to start training with the team on Monday.
Japan midfielder Daisuke Matsui also played for Grenoble last season and is looking for a move away from the club, which was relegated to the second division after a bottom-place finish last season.
