CHENGDU, China (Kyodo) Japan's female national soccer team thrashed Thailand 4-0 to make it two wins out of two at the Women's Asian Cup on Saturday.

Norio Sasaki's team, 8-0 winners over Myanmar in their opening Group A game on Thursday, will advance to the semifinals if North Korea beats Myanmar.

Megumi Takase was among nine changes coach Sasaki made to the side that started against Myanmar and the 19-year-old striker seized her chance by giving the Japanese the lead.

Further goals from Manami Nakano and Rumi Utsugi put Japan 3-0 up at the break before Kozue Ando completed the rout at Chengdu Sports Center.

The top two teams from each of the two four-team groups advance to the last four.
