Gamba Osaka were sent crashing out of the Asian Champions League on Tuesday after a 3-0 defeat in the round of 16 away to Seongnam Ilhwa.

Colombian midfielder Mauricio Molina fired Seongnam in front from the penalty spot and Song Ho Young added the second six minutes from time before Molina's injury-time free kick sealed victory to send the South Koreans into the quarterfinals.

The result leaves J. League champions Kashima Antlers as the only Japanese team left in Asia's premier club competition after two-time quarterfinalists Kawasaki Frontale and tournament debutants Sanfrecce Hiroshima were eliminated in the group stage.

Kashima takes on holders Pohang Steelers of South Korea on Wednesday.
