CATANIA, Italy (Kyodo) World Cup hopeful Takayuki Morimoto bagged his fourth goal of the season to seal a comfortable 3-0 win for Catania at home to Parma in Italy's Serie A on Saturday.

Giuseppe Mascara opened the scoring in the 15th minute at the Stadio Massimino before disappointing home fans when he missed a penalty seven minutes later.

However, Jorge Martinez doubled the struggling Sicilians' lead on 71 minutes before Morimoto, just moments after coming off the bench, met Ciro Capuano's low cross in the 77th to complete the scoring and help move his side within one point of safety at the bottom of the table.

Elsewhere, Daisuke Matsui scored one and set up another as Grenoble beat Montpellier 3-2 after extra time in the Coupe de France.
