World champion Aiko Uemura took the title with an electrifying performance in the women's freestyle moguls event at the Continental Cup on Saturday.

Uemura, who has booked her ticket to next year's Vancouver Winter Olympics, executed two captivating air maneuvers en route to a score of 25.45 points in the meet, which doubled as the Australian national championships.

Tae Satoya, gold medalist in women's moguls at the 1998 Nagano Olympics, came second with 23.04, while Arisa Murata placed ninth.

In men's action, Nobuyuki Nishi led a 1-2 finish with Osamu Ueno in the first of two races of men's moguls as Japan swept the medals podium in both contests.

Ueno claimed victory in the second race with Nishi finishing runnerup and Yugo Tsukita coming third in both races.

Dual moguls were initially scheduled for Saturday but the event was changed to moguls due to inclement weather the previous day.
