Shibui injured

BERLIN (Kyodo) Yoko Shibui will sit out the women's marathon at the world championship due to a right foot injury, national team officials said Wednesday.

Shibui, who finished fourth in the 2001 meet in Edmonton, Canada, has made the decision to miss Sunday's event because of swelling in her right foot.

Shibui aggravated the injury in Berlin after winning the San Francisco Marathon on July 26 in her final tuneup for the worlds.
