HIROSHIMA – Pinch runner Takahito Kudo scored the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth inning on a wild pitch by Katsuhiro Nagakawa as the Yomiuri Giants edged the Hiroshima Carp 2-1 on Sunday.
Shinnosuke Abe had a one-out, pinch-hit single to right fielder Jun Hirose, who let the ball past him and allowed Abe to reach third base before Nagakawa’s (0-3) wild pitch.
Ryota Wakiya homered to give Yomiuri a 1-0 lead in the fourth. Hiroshima tied the score in the eighth on a wild pitch by Daisuke Ochi (3-1), who picked up the win.
Marc Kroon earned his eighth save by striking out all three batters in the bottom of the ninth.

At Nagoya Dome, Kazuhiro Wada had a two-run double among his three hits and Yudai Kawai threw six shutout innings as Chunichi completed a three-game sweep of Yokohama.
Wada pushed Chunichi’s lead to 4-0 in the seventh inning when he doubled down the left-field line with two runners.
Kawai (2-0) allowed only one hit and two walks. Futoshi Kobayashi (1-3) was charged with two runs, one earned, in 5 2/3 innings.

At Jingu Stadium, Hiroyasu Tanaka had a tiebreaking single in the seventh inning and Tokyo Yakult held on in a three-game sweep of Hanshin and its fifth win in a row.
Tanaka laced a single to left off reliever Hirotaka Egusa (2-2) with one out and runners at the corners for the decisive blow.
Yakult got on the board on a passed ball in the first inning before Takahiro Arai’s doubled tied it in the fourth. Ryo Kawashima (3-2) limited the damage to one run and five hits in seven innings.

At Osaka’s Kyocera Dome, Shinji Shimoyama went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs as Orix blanked Hokkaido Nippon Ham to snap a nine-game losing streak.
Shimoyama drove in the first three runs with a second-inning home run and doubles in the fourth and sixth.

At Chiba Marine Stadium, Chiba Lotte catcher Tomoya Satozaki drove in four runs to help back Shingo Ono, who pitched two-run ball over 5 1/3 innings against Seibu.
Lotte loaded the bases with none out in the opening frame and jumped out to a 3-0 lead after a Tadahito Iguchi clutch single and sacrifice flies by Shoitsu Omatsu and Satozaki, who added a two-run double in the third and a run-scoring double in the seventh.
