Sayaka Shibusawa won the women’s 3-meter springboard competition to capture her first title at the Diving National Championships on Friday.
Shibusawa, who turns 25 on Sunday, collected 289.20 points for top honors in the competition, which doubles as a selection meet for the world championships this summer in Rome.
Fourteen-year-old Yuka Mabuchi took second while Mai Nakagawa was third, scoring 275.20 and 274.50, respectively, at Tokyo Tatsumi International Swimming Center.
In men’s action, Sho Sakai claimed his first title in the 1-meter springboard with 361.00 and also teamed up with Kazuki Murakami to take the men’s synchronized event with 369.42.
Kanako Tomiyama and Ayumi Kurasawa won the women’s synchro title for the first time with 266.34
