SAPPORO (Kyodo) Veteran ski jumper Akira Higashi posted the day's best jump to come from behind and win the UHB Cup on Saturday.

The 37-year-old followed up a first effort of 120.5 meters by soaring 128.5 on the K-120 Okurayama hill in Sapporo to capture his first UHB title in five years and fourth overall with a total of 240.2 points.

Yoshihiko Osanai, who had led after a first-round jump of 124.5, finished in second on 221.6, Tomoaki Endo was third with 213.8, while Nordic combined skier Daito Takahashi followed in fourth spot on 212.5.

Izumi Yamada cruised to victory with 243.5 points in the women's competition.
