Yokohama BayStars infielder Shuichi Murata, who won the Central League home run title for the second year in a row, re-signed for a salary worth ¥260 million plus performance incentives — a whopping ¥100 million pay raise from 2008.

The details of the agreement had already been worked out by Murata's agent and the Central League club by the end of last year.

"I want to pull together with my teammates to help us achieve victory as our foremost goal. Individual titles come after that," said Murata.

Murata, 26, had 46 homers in 2008, his third consecutive year with at least 30 home runs.

In other dealings, Seibu Lions right-hander Takayuki Kishi agreed to a contract worth ¥75 million, a ¥39 million pay boost, in his third round of talks with the 2008 Japan Series champions.
