Arasaki on track for first title

MIHAMA, Aichi Pref. (Kyodo) Yayoi Arasaki put herself into position to win a first career title on the Japan LPGA tour Saturday after a second-round 67 gave her a two-shot lead at the Munsingwear Ladies Tokai Classic.

Arasaki, whose best result over six years on the Japan LPGA circuit is a tie for third, made six birdies and a bogey to share the lead before pulling away with a birdie-birdie finish that moved her to 8-under 136 at Minami Aichi Country Club.

Arasaki attributed her impressive round to good putting, particularly for birdie attempts from around 20 feet, including the two she made from the fringe at the third and 17th holes.
