NISHINOMIYA, Hyogo Pref. – Takashi Toritani was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded as the Hanshin Tigers pulled away with a three-run eighth inning to beat the Softbank Hawks 5-2 in interleague play on Friday.
Pinch hitter Shinjiro Hiyama also hit a two-run single in the eighth to push Hanshin’s lead to three runs at Koshien Stadium.
Kyuji Fujikawa closed out the ninth to earn his Central League-leading 20th save.
Tomoyuki Kubota (4-1) threw two scoreless innings for the win, while Softbank reliever Christopher Nitkowski (1-3) took the loss.
Takahiro Arai hit a game-tying solo homer in the fifth and scored the tiebreaking run in the eighth when Nitkowski hit Toritani with a pitch, helping CL leader Hanshin pick up its third win in four games.

At Fukushima’s Iwaki Green Stadium, Ryohei Kawamoto homered and drove in three runs to back a solid pitching performance by Shohei Tateyama as Tokyo Yakult ended Seibu’s winning streak at three games.
Kawamoto capped a four-run first inning with an RBI single and added a two-run homer in the fifth off Seibu ace Hideaki Wakui (5-5), who gave up seven runs and 10 hits in five innings.
Tateyama (5-1) held the Pacific League-leading Lions to one run and four hits over eight innings, striking out eight without a walk.

At Onomichi’s Shimanami Stadium, Tuffy Rhodes went 3-for-5 with a homer and five RBIs as Orix scored a season-high 12 runs in a rout of Hiroshima.
Rhodes singled in two runs in the first inning, hit a two-run homer in the sixth and had an RBI single in the eighth.
Ramon Ortiz (2-3) allowed two runs and seven hits in five innings for Orix. Hiroshima starter Jumpei Shinoda (1-1) walked the first three batters of the game and was pulled after Rhodes’ base hit without getting an out.

At Nagoya Dome, Takayuki Takaguchi went 3-for-4 with three RBIs as Hokkaido Nippon Ham rallied to beat Chunichi.
Takaguchi hit a go-ahead two-run triple off Mitsuru Sato (0-1) in a three-run fifth inning and added an RBI single in a four-run seventh, making a winner of reliever Yataro Sakamoto (3-1).
Tyrone Woods hit a pair of solo homers and Hidenori Kuramoto also went deep for Chunichi.

At Tokyo Dome, rookie Yomiuri outfielder Ryuichi Kajimae became the first player in Japanese baseball history to hit a walkoff homer in his first career plate appearance.
With the game tied at 3-3, Kajimae, who took right field to start the 10th as a defensive replacement, drove a 1-1 pitch from Yusuke Kawasaki (0-2) into the right-field seats with one out in the bottom half of the inning. Marc Kroon (1-1) picked up the win with a scoreless inning.

At Yokohama Stadium, Teppei Tsuchiya hit a three-run homer to highlight a seven-run sixth inning as Tohoku Rakuten handed Yokohama its third loss in a row.
The Eagles went ahead in the fifth on Fuminori Yokogawa’s first career homer and made it 8-0 in the sixth, chasing Mike Wood (0-5) in the process. Hideki Asai (6-5) gave up four runs in 6 2/3 innings.
