Japanese midfielder Makoto Hasebe has agreed to join German first-division side VfL Wolfsburg from Asian champion Urawa Reds. “I want to make an impact and will play with the spirit of a representative of Japan and Urawa,” the 23-year-old Hasebe told reporters Tuesday. “I have decided on Germany because I think it is an environment that I will be able to improve in.” Hasebe, who was being chased by Italian Serie A side Siena, departs for Germany on Wednesday and will complete formalities with the Bundesliga outfit subject to a medical on Thursday.
