In-form striker Naohiro Takahara scored twice, but Eintracht Frankfurt's hopes of advancing to the knockout stage of the UEFA Cup were ended by former Japan coach Zico's Fenerbahce after a 2-2 draw on Wednesday.

Headers in the seventh and 52nd minutes from World Cup striker Takahara put visiting Frankfurt in control, but Tuncay Sali pulled one back and Semih Senturk struck seven minutes from time to send Zico's men into the last 32 of Europe's second-tier competition.

"I scored twice but have no reason to celebrate," shrugged Takahara. "It's very disappointing to surrender a two-goal lead like that. We have to start trying to get better results away from home."
