Funatani finished off a neat three-man move with his 73rd-minute goal after a Yoshiaki Ota header cancelled out an early strike from Omiya forward Hiroshi Morita and put both sides on level terms at halftime at Yamaha Stadium.

The victory gave Iwata three points after two matches in first-round Group D of the Nabisco Cup, while Omiya opened its campaign on a losing note in the only fixture of the competition scheduled for Wednesday.
